Matt Bonnici is an emerging production designer living and working on Dharawal land in Sydney, Australia.
He is passionate about the art of design and enjoys creating immersive and emotive spaces on film.
Born and raised in Sydney Matt completed film school in 2006 majoring in Production Design / Art Direction.
In 2018 Matt worked under renowned Maltese Production Designer / Art Director Charlo Dalli on the feature film
Of Time and the Sea. The film was written and directed by Matt's cousin Peter Sant. It was filmed in Malta at Fort Ricasoli, the same location as films such as Gladiator (2000) , Troy (2004), Assassins Creed (2016).
A film Matt worked on, Streets of Colour (2023), was nominated for Best Indie Feature at the 2024 AACTA Awards.
The film also received a nomination for Feature Film Production of the Year at the 2024 Screen Producers Australia Awards.
In 2024, Matt collaborated with top designers Fiona Donovan (APDG) on the Kriv Stenders Directed feature "The Correspondent" and Emma Fletcher (APDG) on the BBC Studios series "Return to Paradise."
Matt strongly believes in the power of good design to enhance storytelling across screen platforms. He is looking forward to continuing to immerse himself in the Australian and international screen industries to challenge his growing creative skills.
